JONESBORO, Ark., Sept.11 - The National Obituary Archive™ announced that it has established a lasting online memorial to the victims of the terrorist attacks that struck U.S. targets in New York, Washington and elsewhere on Tuesday. NOA, the world’s largest repository of obituaries and death records, erected a special section on its Web site at www.NationalObituaryArchive.com to memorialize the victims and enable visitors to the site to express their condolences. “We will post the names of the dead as they become available, and we welcome those who wish to sign our Guestbook or post Tributes to any or all of the victims,” said Nadine Smith, President of Continental Computer Corp., which operates the National Obituary Archive™. The site also will arrange to deliver flowers to selected memorials or to the families of victims when that information is available. A Guestbook entry is a brief expression of sympathy posted along with others in the order they are received. A Tribute can be a piece of any length, with photo, and may contain prose, poetry or any appropriate memories, thoughts or reflections. Whereas signing the Guestbook is free, Tributes cost $9.95 and remain linked to the name of the deceased or to the Victims Memorial for one year and are renewable indefinitely. All entries are reviewed by the National Obituary Archive staff for appropriateness before they are published on the site. The National Obituary Archive™ powered by Arrangeonline.com was established less than a year ago by Continental Computer Corp. of Jonesboro, Ark., the leading developer of software for managing funerals and funeral homes. It quickly became the world’s largest collection of its kind and now contains more than 50 million individual entries gathered from funeral homes around the nation and from public records, including the files of the U.S. Social Security Administration. The National Obituary Archive™ has the exclusive endorsement of the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), the largest association of funeral professionals in the world. It is the primary provider of obituaries to America Online and is available to members of the leading online service at AOL Keyword: obituary
