Marjorie B. Opanasenko
1938 - 2009

Marjorie Bernadette Opanasenko, age 71 of Lansing (formerly of Bay Port), passed away suddenly at her home on Monday, November 16.
She was born February 24, 1938 in Caseville, at the home of her parents, Ernest and Mary Berneice (Lenaway) Hebert. Marjorie grew up in the Caseville/Bay Port area and graduated from Bay Port High School in 1956. On July 28, 1956 she was united in marriage to Mitchell Opanasenko at St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville. Mitchell passed away suddenly on November 15, 1989 at the age of 52. Marjorie was a former member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Pigeon, and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lansing.
She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother who also enjoyed flower gardening, reading and needlework. Mrs. Opanasenko was a homemaker throughout her lifetime.
Her survivors include three daughters, Linda Urbanski of Hersey, Cathy (Michael) Rosales of Lansing, and Brenda Currie of Greensboro, North Carolina; three sons, Larry (Phung) Opanasenko of Raleigh, North Carolina, Terry Opanasenko of Bath and Michael (fiancee Anne Wadsworth) Opanasenko of Owosso; six grandsons, Paul Opanasenko, David Opanasenko, Mitchell Opanasenko, Matthew Opanasenko, Cody Rosales and Zachary Rosales; 10 sisters: Evelyn (Robert) Samuel, Joann (Robert) Senter, Joyce Deering, Geraldine (Paul) Bassett, Audrey (Gary) Boehmer, Judy Shadburn, Elaine (Steve) Evans, Carol Hebert, Sharon Hebert and Wanda (Chris) Thibodeaux; a brother, Dale (Prisella) Hebert; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Mitchell, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary; a grandson, Timothy Michael; her parents; a sister, Patricia F. Young; and three brothers, Ernest Hebert Jr., Kenneth Hebert, and Alfred Hebert.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, at Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, Pigeon, with Rev. Fr. John Weis, pastor at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon, officiating. Burial will be in the New Bay Port Cemetery, Fairhaven Township.
