FALMOUTH - Keith C. Bowen, 72 years of age of Country Lane went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday morning. His passing took place at home during a beautiful sunrise following a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born in New Brunswick Canada on September 27, 1937 the son of Charles and Alma Doughty Bowen and was a graduate of South Portland High School.

Following high school he served 2 years with the U.S. Navy and upon returning to Maine he studied accounting at the University of Maine.

Keith started working for the Guy Gannett Broadcasting Company in 1959 in the accounting department and went on to Guy Gannett Publishing where he worked for 36 years in many capacities including head of Gannett Business Department.

He was an active member of the First Baptist Church on Canco Road in Portland having served as Treasurer for thirteen years.

Keith is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Garsoe Bowen with whom he celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 27th of this year. Also surviving are 4 daughters; Laurie Brown of Portland, Betsy Oulton and husband, Paul of Falmouth, Kristin Ruff and husband Tim of Utah and Theresa Witham and husband Steve of Falmouth. He was blessed with five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. His surviving sister is Jean Goff and husband, Butch of North Yarmouth.

Private visitation will be on Monday, November 16th 4 to 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church on Canco Road in Portland.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 17th, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. also at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Robert Frederich will officiate.
