SALISBURY - Russell L. Gillespie, 67, of Salisbury, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, at his residence. Born March 13, 1939, in Iredell County, Mr. Gillespie was a son of Katherine Kluttz Gillespie and Clyde Melvin Gillespie of Salisbury. Educated in Rowan County schools, he was employed by Richard Burrage Grading and Hauling. Mr. Gillespie was a member of St. Luke`s Lutheran Church and attended Trinity Wesleyan Church. Surviving are wife Betty Coburn Gillespie; son Timothy Alan (Tammie) Gillespie of Statesville; stepsons Craig (Janet) Rufty of Rockwell and Kevin and Steve Rufty of Salisbury; daughter Lisa Gillespie (David) Eagle of Salisbury; sister Rachel (Billy) Shepherd of Salisbury; nieces Tina Jarvin of Salisbury and Sheri Styron of Pine Level; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Service: 2 p.m. Friday at St. Luke`s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mary Louise Sitton and the Rev. Ernest Mullins officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at Lyerly Funeral Home.
