Actress Merie Earle died November 4, 1984. She was 95.

Earle was born May 13, 1889 in Morrow, Ohio. She grew up in Columbus, Ohio and loved to sing and dance as a child.

But she didn’t pursue a show business career until after her husband retired from his railroad job.

Earle was acting in a Methodist church play in La Crescenta, California when a Hollywood agent noticed her performance. He signed her to a contract, and she appeared in several commercials in the 1960’s.

She made her film debut in 1967 in the movie Fitzwilly. Other film credits include Gaily, Gaily (1969), Fatso (1980), and Going Ape (1981).

Earle also made frequent guest appearances on the Tonight Show.

She appeared as a regular on The Waltons from 1972-79, and was a guest star on numerous TV series, including The Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres, and Bewitched.

Earle died of uremic poisoning in Glendale, California on November 4, 1984.
