" Kathy L. Smith, 56, of West Carrollton, OH and former Connersville resident, died Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at Kettering Medical Center in Dayton, OH.
She was born in Richmond, October 13, 1950 to Robert I. and Neva J. Brookbank Kaufman. She grew up in Connersville and was a 1968 graduate of Connersville High School. She was a member of the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church and was employed as a transcriptionist with Surecare Medical Center in Springboro, OH. She enjoyed reading and crafts but the highlight of her life were her grandchildren, Matthew and Evan.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne M. Smith, whom she married November 25, 1969 at the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church; two children and their spouses: Heather and Erik Kogler of Springboro, OH, Jason W. and Melissa Smith of Dayton, OH; two grandsons: Matthew and Evan Kogler; a sister and brother-in-law: Robin and Michael Brannon of Connersville; her mother-in-law: Jessie Smith of Connersville; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her parents, paternal grandparents: Virgil and Isabelle Kaufman; maternal grandparents: Levi and Grace Brookbank; father-in-law: Harold Smith; and several aunts and uncles, preceded her in death.
Memorial services will be conducted 11am Saturday the 13th at First United Methodist Church of Springboro at 60 E. North Street Springboro, OH. Local memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, January 15, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel with Rev. Earnest Howard of the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of service.
